Dear The world,
Dear world,
I need you to be more kind - I need you to care again - I need you to protect your children and your young - I need you to surrender your smug indifference for self-reflection and empathy for others outside yourself - I need you to put yourself into others' shoes - I need you to grow up and stop being schoolhouse bullies - I need you to identify true evil and call it out where it can plainly be seen - I need you to find your moral compass - I need you to do better - I need you to be kinder - I need you to think about your words - I need you to love your neighbors - I need you to mind your business - I need you to find some meaning in this shared existence we all have as human beings, to think about it all for a second - I need you to listen more - I need you to be kind. I need you to be kind. I don't know what to say anymore but I need you to be kind. I need you to listen to people who are different from you. I need you to believe stories that are different from your own. I need you to hold more than one thought in your head at once. I need you to sit in silence and think for a while. I need you to be able to look at the eyes of a fellow creature, a fellow animal, fellow human, anything and all of the above, and be able to see all of the emotion that's there. I need the world to be kinder and I'm tired of screaming inside for the cruelty to end. Please be better, please do better.
